Commissioning a personal artwork is not something which you do often. We would like to explain how this process normally works and will be delighted to discus this further with you if you contact us.

The idea will usually come from you, although we can help!  Artworks can be wonderful gifts, a centrepiece for your home, or a personal indulgence you have longed for. You will be advised on the options and possibilities - and together we will define a clear brief, and project a timeline. For portraits you may be asked for sittings, and need to allow for four to six sessions of a couple of hours each.

There is no standard price (although you may find this on other art sites). Each piece is utterly original, and every client's budget is different. Material and size are determined to suit the subject and can only be decided in discussion with you.  Similarly, picture frames and bases for sculptures are highly individual. We are happy to guide you, but will be just as happy if you decide to frame or mount your artwork yourself.  

Payment processes are industry standard. Sculptural projects are payable in three tranches of 33% of the total - on commissioning, on delivery to the bronze foundry, and just prior to delivery. On smaller projects and all painting commission we simplify this to full prepayment or two payments of 50%.   Payments are non-refundable in the case of a commission being cancelled before completion. Packing and delivery to UK mainland addresses are included in the prices. Overseas crating, shipping and customs documentation management are priced as an extra, if required.    

Copyright to the artwork remains by law with the artist, unless specifically assigned elsewhere. The artist may reproduce the artwork at will and display it or photographs of it at any time.     

If you would like working photographs please let us know. We can supply rough in-studio shots for the cost of processing and a small administrative charge. If you would like a professional photograph of your artwork, such as for a Christmas card for the family, we can arrange it. The cost can vary according to the artwork, lighting and style required. With sculpture you may also order duplicates - portraits can be wonderful gifts. Extra casts of sculptures cost considerably less than the first, and we would be happy to discuss this at the time of commissioning.
